The Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Derry City legend Mark Farren.
Farren, Derry’s record goal scorer, had been receiving treatment for an aggressive brain tumour and passed away today at the age of 33.
Derry City Chairman Phillip O’Doherty said: “We offer our sympathies to his family. He was a superb player and I think the entire football community throughout Ireland would say the same. But, most of all, he was a decent human being.”
SWAI President Paul O’Heir added: “Mark was always a pleasure to deal with and very generous with his time. He will be sadly missed. All at the SWAI would like to extend our sympathies to Mark’s family and friends.”
